The Rules
Welcome to Manhattan by Night, a Camarilla stronghold city located in Manhattan, New York. This channel is for the experienced, and the beginner role player. It is built on trust and respect for all who play here. If you enjoy a relaxing atmosphere to rp a good story, then this channel is for you.
Our chronicle is a Free Form setting, Old World of Darkness themed RPG. What that means is, we are not sheeted or diced to begin with. We do encourage players to sheet their characters before any and all combat scenarios, at the very least have your character worked out on what it can or cannot do. All Combat is between the characters involved. Ops will not interfer unless something can not be agreed to, you need help or have a question. The Ops are here to help you, feel free to ask questions.
All character types are welcome and players can start immediately when they join the channel. The channel is mixed with Dice, Free Formers and Free Formers with Dice, select what you are comfortable with. Any Questions, feel free to contact one of our Ops/STs who will gladly assist you. Masquerade Enforced. Elysium Enforced.
There is NO approval needed, players keep their own sheets, if they have them. You are responsible for xp and updating your sheet. It is highly recomended that you atleast have something written down of what your character can or can not do before participating in combat and SLs(Storylines). However, there will be no combat in #Mbn`Citadel, unless you have a sheet. In creating a character, don’t make one so strong that others can’t work around. Every character has weaknesses, use them. If you use a discipline or power that a fellow player isn’t sure about, or an Op or ST is wondering what you did, don’t become defensive if we ask the specifics. We do allow player made disciplines to some extent, provided you give us a write-up.
15 xp are given each month to active characters
Dice are available, and dice players are welcome to join at any time. For those who do not wish to play using dice, we permit this either with strict Free Form rules and/or with use of ChaosDice which give you a 50/50 chance at performing any action at any time.
Do not combine OOC (Out Of Character) and IC (In Character). This is fairly standard but it does happen. Do not lose your mind over it. Simply stop, take a breath and try to sort it out with the ones you’re rping with it. If you can not come to a resolution, please bring it to an OP. They will assist in resolution with both players. Don’t risk losing a friendship over it.
All players are encouraged to put their SL (Storylines) in play. If you need help with it, any OP is at your service. Just ask.
You are not forced to partake in a scene you feel strongly against. Or if a scene takes a turn and you feel this isn’t for you. Tell the ST or an OP and they will create an exit for you. This can also be a double-edge sword to be abused, we will know the difference. If you take an action that warrants a response for the good or ill of the game, you can not put the exit rule in play. We are all adults and should respect each other as players and as a person behind the characters.
If you take an action in a game, you will be considered a part of that game, and your actions will get the appropriate response, for the good or ill. If you take an action that would get a response that you don't like, you cannot ignore it this is to hold character accountable for their actions.
As a player you must have consent of a fellow player to Kill their character but a character can be harmed, Incapacitated, Torpored, and or Banished in response to an action taken in character. Please keep in mind that if your character makes someone mad or makes them an enemy to yours that the other character can attack you in other ways that does not include violence. Examples of this is strip you of all money your character has, own a home and suddenly the bank forecloses, and rumors can float about.
Players choosing these flaws: Redlisted, Mark of the Betrayer, (more to be added as deemed nessary)
You are choosing and making a decision to take a flaw on this list forfeit your claim to take the channel no kill rule period. By taking these flaws you are stating you wanna have a chaotic time and fun...thats fine..but don't think we will allow you to abuse such things
